I got this because my laptop kept overheating. I just needed it to be propped up a little. This stand is perfect for the job. The "lip" that holds the laptop onto the stand at the bottom is big enough and is padded so no slipping or scratching. Every part that touches the laptop is padded so no scratching on the back either. The height is changed by putting the little arms in to different level notches. I was worried that the legs would not stay in their little notches but no problems - I type with a heavy hand and my laptop is secure. I bought a second similar laptop holder made by a different brand because it was a couple of dollars less than this one but it was flimsy and poorly made. Really glad I got this one.The purchase was well-tracked by the company, Modazon, and it actually arrived a day earlier than promised. Their concern for my satisfaction during the entire purchase, shipping, and delivery process was gratifying.I know that that laptop, an Apple Macbook Pro 16", when flat on the table, was uncomfortable to type on. When I saw this type of laptop stand, I was intrigued, and saw the benefit of the lpatop's raised elevation. At first I saw some relatively low cost stands and was going to purchase one. Then I saw Modazon's add for an Upgraded Adjustable Laptop Stand. They gave very detailed information and illustrations/photos as to why their upgraded stand was the superior choice. It convinced me to buy their product and in the three days I have had it I am certainly NOT disappointed.It is heavy and sturdy aluminum and comes with a cloth drawstring storage and transportation bag that is 3" x 11" x 3/4".By raising the laptop up by just a few degrees my comfort level when typing has significantly improved.There are 7 separate elevations that can be chosen.There are no locking tabs to hold your final chosen configuration in place. When you remove the laptop and lift the stand, it tends to "flop around", which is good for quick disassembly and storage, but if you desire to lift the laptop AND the stand together, it will collapse and have to be set up again to wherever you move the laptop. This is a very minor frustration, but I felt it needed to be clarified.The thing I love most about the design is that there are non-skid rubber-like surfaces on both the top and bottom of the device, resulting in a very stable platform for the stand, both for the stand on a flat surface, and for the laptop on the stand.I am super-pleased with this purchase and very glad I bought the upgraded Modazon stand!I am sure it will give me years of relative typing comfort!Short story: MacBook Pro 16", external 4K monitor, running hot. Propped up with a couple of Altoids tins to get some air flow. Enough!Looked at a bunch of stands, but I like the Touch Bar (go figure) and didn't want to resort to an external keyboard. There were several stands available, but this one looked like it might be sturdy and inexpensive.It comes in a small, fairly plain box. Open the box, and you see the cloth travel case. Inside that is the stand, protected by a foam wrapper. When I finally got to the actual product, I was expecting it to open wider - the scissor mechanism that supports the two halves was sturdy and stable, but I thought it was going to be bigger.It took a minute to figure out how the legs fit into the slots, but once I'd worked that out I set it on its lowest angle. Now, here's the thing: I really tend to beat on keyboards. I type like a maniac! That's one reason I'm really happy Apple went back to the scissor mechanism - the low-travel keys felt really dainty to me.And the stand? Solid as a rock! No kidding, I can't even get the thing to flex pushing down near the hinge of the MacBook! I'm constantly plugging and unplugging stuff, and the stand doesn't budge! The typing angle is comfortable - I prop my elbows on the chair armrests, and my hands hover over the keyboard at the perfect angle! And because the stand itself isn't a solid sheet of metal but more of a framework, heat dissipation is dramatically improved.Bottom line: if you need a little cooler operation or just want a better typing angle, this is the ticket!At the time of writing this review I paid about $24 for this stand. Not all that expensive and it gets the job done considering amazons basic stand is a way worse design for only $4 cheaper than this. The stand may seem a little flimsy when setting it up, but once you have the device on top of it, it doesn’t move or wiggle. Over all I’m impressed by the design though I believe more could have gone into the mechanics of the stand as lifting up the plates to set it into position doesn’t simultaneously lift the arms that hold them up. With that, it’s a little awkward to set up but once it’s set up, you’re good to go. The same can not be said for the retractable mechanics of this case when you are pulling it apart into full retracted position. This mechanism feels great and really makes this stand that much more portable though as I said before, it can feel a little loose in it’s tolerances. The desk space that it takes up is very minimal which is exactly why I got this stand. I like to work at coffee shops which means my workspace isn’t always that big. I also wanted something that would have enough bottom space to hold my IPad over the keyboard so that I can work on both screens using SideCar on my Mac. Overall, the stand is really good and I love the bag that comes with it as it adds to the portability that much more.It’s not sturdyI used this as a cheap solution to hold up a ~10lb mixer on an angle because its quite large.Surprisingly it worked perfectly, and is very sturdy in place. The thicker support struts and base/feet can hold it in place very well.Way cheaper than trying to buy an actual mixer stand.The material of the stand is good. However, the stand that I received had a dent along one of the tracks. I cannot fully open the stand. Also, when the adjustable arms are set up, it is difficult to move the stand. As there are no hinges to fix the adjustable arms, if you accidentally hold on the arms, the stand might collapse.C'est un cadeau à ma petite fille.So sturdy and easy to set up!
